So pick who you will play the next Dr Who?
Rules are simple, just list your three contenders and we'll check back and see who made the right choice.
I would list the actor you think will get it, an outsider long-shot and another to hedge your bet.
You can pick any actor not just the ones listed below.
The Contenders
PATERSON JOSEPH
DAVID MORRISSEY
SEAN PERTWEE
JAMES NESBITT
RUSSELL TOVEY
JAMES McAVOY
ANTHONY HEAD
JULIA SAWALHA
JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS
ROBERT CARLYLE
CATHERINE TATE
RHYS IFANS
JOHN SIMM
TOM WARD
SIMON PEGG
PETER WOODWARD
GREG PROOPS
ADRIAN LESTER
MICHAEL SHEEN
PETER WINGFIELD
RUFUS SEWELL
TOM CHAMBERS
IOAN GRUFFUDD
JACK DAVENPORT
RICHARD COYLE _________________ Cheers, Darran

To throw this open a bit:
Michael Sheen
Peter Wingfield
Rufus Sewell _________________ O rose, thou art sick! The invisible worm,

And his dark secret love, Does thy life destroy.

James Nesbitt has today ruled himself out of the part. He was the bookies favourite, however, he told the BBC he has no interest in becoming the 11th doctor. What's more, it would be "career suicide" for him to follow in Tennant's footsteps. _________________ Nathan Baron

Oops, sorry, got distracted.
Out of the above list I would love to see Simon Pegg playing the doctor although that will never happen.
I fully expect the Beeb to go in a new direction and have either a woman or a non-white male. I’m not being sexist, racist, pc, un-pc or anything else it's just that the doctor has always been a middle class white male and I fully expect to see a change.
If I could see anyone playing the doctor I would like to see Samuel L Jackson have a crack, I think that would be quality viewing _________________ Take what ya can....give nothing back. |

I would be really miffed if the new Doctor turned out to be female. Also not being at all sexist, but there's a reason why there are Time Lords and Time Ladies - they're separate genders!!
The Doctor and the Master are Time Lords, and therefore male.
Romana and the Rani are Time Ladies, and female.
I've got no problem with the new Doctor being non-white, but female? Please, no.
As for the pics of potentials up above - Tom Ward looks too like Tennant, at least in that picture. Catherine Tate and Julia Sawalha definitely not, for reasons above. Too entrenched in Hollywood are Ioan Gruffudd, James McAvoy, Michael Sheen and maybe Rufus Sewell. Greg Proops - no, American. John Simm - no, because he's the Master. Duh. Peter Wingfield as the Doctor - swoon. The others, maybe. But Peter Wingfield is still the best looking _________________ Furnace Games Tsar |

We may all be barking up the wrong tree here, as a report in The Sun today suggests that Mr. Moffat may be looking for a return to an older Doctor.
So perhaps we should be looking at the likes of:
Bill Nighy
David Warner
Patrick Stewart
Robert Powell
Malcolm McDowell
Joss Ackland _________________ O rose, thou art sick! The invisible worm,

Don't take anything the Sun say seriously. It's all guff. Otherwise, Ken Dodd would be playing the Doctor, Slipknot would be doing the theme tune, and Tom Baker would be playing the Master. _________________ Nathan Baron

Joss Ackland would be a very interesting possibility... as would Ian Holm, for example. _________________ QED

There's old, and then there's too old. I think any young Doctor Who demographic would be instantly turned off by a Doctor who was old enough to be their great-grandfather! _________________ Furnace Games Tsar |
