All, having got most of the way through the Player's Handbook now, I am planning to run the campaign as written (ie 5e D&D). I still love @First Age 's Heroic Fantasy but all the tools and materials for Curse of Strahd are lined up for 5e.

So, who hasn't got access to the 5e Player's Handbook, Essentials Kit (due next week) or the SRD Basic rules?

I will probably add the PHB to Roll 20 so we can generate characters in an online session.

Another way to get some elements of the D&D rules is the D&D Essentials kit, which releases today. It apparently has two sub-classes for fighter, rogue, cleric, wizard, and bard, not just the one which is in the SRD (and therefore free on D&D Beyond). Barbarian and Sorcerer you'll have to rely on the SRD or buy the PHB, though.

Not really related to the topic at hand, but I'm hoping to get home before the man from Amazon delivers my copy. I notice they shipped it last night to achieve their 'on day of release' delivery.
