A bit necro, but the revised primer for A||State has gone out to a few people, including those who ran the earlier playtest. It looks like it will be released for free in a couple of weeks.

There's a bit more of a primer on The City. A few words, but lots of lovely pictures. So many lovely pictures!

They've also revised the scenario, in line with the comments in this thread. The initial "gather information" phase is compressed down to a single roll, presented as a quick example of the mechanics in action. The Hohler gang are now introduced as a Devil's Bargain on that roll, rather than a complication on the effect of a roll. Then the action cuts straight to the engagement roll and the start of the job. I'm sure that will produce much better pacing at the table.

They've also included a really nice Position / Effect / Outcome play aid, which I'll use for most FitD games from now on.

All in all, this is a good omen for the game.

I missed out on my one chance to play the playtest and the return offering never happened. Glad it is going well and as an old A|State GM I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

I got the PDF as a reward for GMing at AlbaCon. I see they did not use my feedback that having pre-gen characters called Jane and Janus is very confusing, but knowing it's been revised is some extra motivation to read it.

It’s probably because they are canon characters in a|state 1. Caused confusion in our game at first too.
