Michael Moorcock’s Elric Saga coming to TV

#2
I shall look forward to it being "adapted" so it's nothing like the original books. Wonder how they got Moorcock on-side? He has been notoriously ansty about TV/film, not without justification (although I quite like the version of "The Final Programme")

The BBC have the rights to the Runestaff/Hawkmoon books. Apparently, it's due to go into production sometime next year and has Moorock's full blessing.

The Runestaff series is very accessible.
I can see it being great early Sunday evening fun in the 8pm slot on BBC.
Elric is a bit more HBO/Netflix/Amazon/AMC

Oh goody! Now, let's play 'cast Elric!', but remember.. Bowie is dead..
Can't think of any albino actors. What about Orlando Bloom (in 'Legolas' guise)?' Or possibly Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy). He might be a bit young (32?) but Melniboneans were long-lived and it could be that Stormbringer kept Elric young as well as reknewing his life-force.

Recently reading it again, the Elric structure felt quite clearly multi-ethnic in my imagination. Skin tones are rarely described (the key exceptions being Elric and Sepiriz, at opposite extremes). For example, those from the East (Rackhir and Moonglum) I pictured as Asian for obvious reasons. Those from Bakshaan and nearby kingdoms, except Org, felt Middle-Eastern. Those from the north west such as the Pan Tangians and Queen Yishana felt European. And the people of the Purple Towns such as Smiorgan, as well as Duke Avan, were dark-skinned in my mind's eye.

And the Melniboneans have a variety of ethnicities.

This has no bearing on author intent, or what would happen in a TV adaptation, but it's how I picture things. Maybe just me.
