A thread to catalogue how to use the tabletop platform Roll20.

I'll start:
How to get the blinking monsters onto the table in 5e.
This assumes you have bought the PHB and MM.. it probs doesn't work unless you have.

[17:19, 20/11/2019] I have worked out to get a monster from the MM to a character sheet and hence to a rollable playable monster for the GM..
[17:20, 20/11/2019] Click +Add in the Journal tab
[17:20, 20/11/2019] Add a character, name it "Wolfy whatever fubar"
[17:20, 20/11/2019] next
[17:20, 20/11/2019] then choose NPC
[17:21, 20/11/2019] then open the info tab, search for a monster and literally drag and drop it on the character sheet you have open, voila! fully statted monster with an initiative button
[17:23, 20/11/2019] bob's yer fucking aunty

I do hope @AndrewW can come by and share how he does it with Pathfinder..

Chip in folks!

D&D5e - getting monsters in the journal to make them clickable for initiative etc.

If you are using a prepublished scenario, the monsters in it are already in the journal as characters so you don’t need to create them as NPCs.

If they aren’t in, you just drag them from the MM to the map. They then automatically appear as a character on the journal which remains when you delete the token.

If they’re already in the journal, and you need to base an NPC of those stats, then you create a duplicate using the button in bio and info. This appears at the end of the journal and you just rename and hack it.

I use roll20 a lot, I have a pro level subscription. I have set up two test tables which anyone is welcome to join and play around with the features on. The 5E table is just a blank table with the 5E character sheet enabled. The 2E Pathfinder game is the template I use for setting up 2E tables. You can see how I deal with Handouts and monster sheets. I dont use the fill in part of the character sheet, I just write a few basic macros in the attributes tab. I dislike the way the sheet or default macros allow players to see attack or save modifiers.

If you join I can promote you to GM and you can play around with any features you want.

Thanks Andrew! I'm planning a Pathfinder 2e game early next year, so expect your table will give me a lot to think about. Will explore at the weekend.
