[none] RPG Mapping Software

#1
Someone asked me about mapping software for their own personal project, but as I don't use any myself I thought I should ask around. Apart from Campaign Cartographer does anyone have any recommendations for such things?

Cheers!

I use three methods for making my maps.
Pen & paper. I draw my own.
Adobe Photoshop. Very powerful.
MS PowerPoint. Great at work.
Yes, MS PowerPoint is a very useful tool for making maps and other props. It is on every PC, I can use it in my downtime at work, and it delivers very printable maps.
Yes objects snap to a grid, the rectangles increase in size in increments, lines don’t quite join together precisely, and you have to practise to get ‘interesting’ results that work, but it can make some beautiful images and maps.

Here are some of my examples.

Umm, not without a licence it’s not! Admittedly an Office 365 licence can be got on Amazon for roughly £50 (and you get the rest of Office in to the bargain). An alternative would obviously be Libreoffice which has both a PowerPoint equivalent and a drawing package, the combination of which, could be quite powerful.

The cartographers guild (google them), have interesting talks on a variety of software. Some of the stuff produced is pretty mind blowing.
