Each year, 7 Hills has a theme which can (optionally) be adhered to by games. It's an opportunity to stretch out and encourage GMs to look beyond their regular games, and also provides a framework so that each 7 Hills is a little bit different. Previous themes have included: Science Fiction, The Elements, Steel, Urban Legends, Far Frontiers.

With a week to go to 7 Hills 2019, we're inviting suggestions for 2020's theme. The committee will trawl the thread here and on Facebook and whittle the suggestions down to a shortlist, and there will be a live draw after the Raffle on Sunday at Seven Hills itself. Feel free to cheerlead other folks suggestions too. This thread will shut at midday on Friday, allowing the committee to make the shortlist.

On that basis, how about 'no dice with numbers on them'? ;)

(That would be interesting, actually ... besides Fate and the various FFG games, there's FAITH, Everyway's coming back, I'm sure people have copies of Marvel or Dragonlance Saga lying around, and then there's Dread/Star-crossed, Amber and its clones, etc).

I quite like that. Or going slightly further, "no dice". ;)

Does it matter what it is?
If it's just a guideline? If people can simply ignore it? Or worse, commit to some sort of gaming semantics to meet it?

Regardless I throw my weight behind 'Any game published before 198x' with the explicit caveat that you run the bloody edition that was published before 198x, and not just the newest edition.

I can think of a couple of passingly popular card based games...

Except some of us started out late, like I got introduced to RPGs with Keith Baker's Eberron in 2004, so that is my legacy cut-off date. Ha ha ha!

I do like this one, since I have a couple, including a rare African RPG Kicksgtarter called "Ki Khanga" (by Balogun Ojetade and Milton Davies) that plays out risks and rewards using the Blackjack card mechanics. :)
