They're YA fantasies with strong LGBTQ themes before that became the norm. I haven't read them; I tended to prefer Lackey's other series - Elemental Masters, SERRAted Edge, Diana Tregarde, but for effectively 50p a book, they're worth getting on spec.

I thought the first one was rather badly written and was extremely surprised when it won the Campbell Award last year. The story was interesting, but the writing was bad and needed better editing.

Not part of the monthly deal, but this is one of the original Star Trek The Original Series novelisations from the 1980s. I recall owning it back then, but it got culled some years later (unlike the John M Ford ToS novelisations).

Also of potential interest is some non-fiction:

3 books in the '24 hours in Ancient History' series are 99p each:,p_lbr_books_series_browse-bin:24+Hours+in+Ancient+History&dc&fst=as:eek:ff&qid=1598945650&rnid=5465994031&ref=sr_in_-2_p_lbr_books_series_b_1
2 Ancient Egypt
3 Ancient Athens
4 Ancient China

Has anyone come across these? Are they any good?

Any views on these?
I grabbed them (well, it seemed rude not to), and the first chapter of '24 hours in ancient Athens' reads quite well. Ostensibly it's about a temple guard at the Parthenon, but it's actually telling the story of the sculptor of the statue of Athena, of how a foreigner settled in Athens, serving in the Athenian army, guard rotations, sexual relations between ancient Greek men, Athenian politics, even mentions legal proceedings. Not bad for 10 pages.
