[shopping] What have you splurged on recently?

Finally, one of my old-school classics arrived, the Spelljammer AD&D Adventures in Space box set.
I have my Old School Essentials and Rules Cyclopeida to cover the first edition. So for the second edition, I thought a classic setting that represented that era uniquely was nice to have. Also, I suspect the much anticipated Baldur's Gate III computer game may be inspired by Bruce Cordell's adventure module, "Dawn of the Overmind" with homage to Spelljammer.

So HQ: Glorantha arrived. It’s a hot mess layout and art wise. Probably designed by a Lunar cult or another group of assimilationist Monomyth worshippers. I do like the nods to RQ2 and RQ3 trade dress.

Only cost me £14 new so mustn’t grumble.
I almost got that, but then realised that I have Heroquest, ie the second edition of it, and haven't used that. I feel somewhat attracted by the Glorantha phenomenon but unwilling to commit to the download.

I almost wrote just about the same post. Though if I ever do get into Glorantha it would be via 13G or HQG, and perhaps HeroQuest provides the distilled essence of a setting - if I ever read or play 13G I’ll spend a lot of time thinking about the new variations on 13th Age mechanics, as well as thinking about Glorantha.

Maybe I’m just realising that I’m not actually terribly interested in Glorantha (where’s the gaming confessions thread?)

And to post something on-topic ... I bought the Beadle and Grimm’s Gold edition Eberron box. Photos to follow when it’s light :)

Of course fun bling like feather tokens, replica newspapers, and printed battle maps don’t have a lot of value in an online-play world!

I think if there were an all-in-one 13th Age Runequest of 300 pages or fewer, that would be my most attractive entry point. What I've seen of the BRP one looks like too much Stuff for me for potential running, eg crowded character sheet. One day I expect I'll try playing it and find out!

Damn! I need this now.
Congratulations, by the way.

Bloody Hell! I just choked on the price. Can hardly wait for your review to see what it contains to placate my economic sensibilities.

I now have Lyonesse too. It looks glorious. I love the interior art work.

Only thing is it wasn't packaged very well, so the spine is slightly crushed in transit. Not enough for me to get upset about, (just damage in one corner) but slightly irksome still.

So annoying when this happens, especially with international purchases. All about saving the weight sometimes, but still quite frustrating.
